Our Annual Anniversary Hike Through the Bog

Though our wedding anniversary has come and gone and several days have since passed, I still wanted to post the photos I took from our annual trip to the bog… a trip we take every year as close to the day we got married as we can get.

It’s been about three years, I think, since I took a significant amount of photos during our walk. Two years ago, we were pregnant with Anysia, and we knew by then we’d likely lose her. While we still had a some precious moments together on our walk, it still didn’t feel like the kind of thing I should be taking a lot of photos of. I did, however, get some special shots of Izzy with his little sister… where he is kissing my belly. Actually, it is from that trip that my blog profile picture comes.

Neither Mr. B or I recall going to the bog last year, so I think we must have skipped a year. This was the year we resumed our tradition. I didn’t bring my big ol’ fancy camera. But I did bring my new phone!!.. and, thus, took lots of pictures on it. I can’t say I like my phone photos better than the kind I would have captured with my DSLR… like these and these from three years ago. But I still enjoyed capturing our walk through the woods, meadows and marshy terrain this time. In fact, some of the photos in this set are some of my favorite ever {especially those that include Izzy either walking with Mr. B or sitting on his shoulders}.

I’m still figuring out the best ways to take pictures on my iPhone. And I actually discovered yesterday that I have an iPhone 5… not an iPhone 5s. So, the camera is even worse than I thought, as it wasn’t until the 5s came out that improvements were made on this generation of iPhone.

Sadly, I’ve only had this used iPhone for about a month, and I already want to upgrade to the 6 or 6s… or in a dream world, 6s Plus! I am guessing the camera on that one is prima!

Having an older phone might help me sharpen my iPhonography skills, though. Perhaps by learning on something less sophisticated, I’ll do quite well with the latest and greatest fancy phone… if I ever get one.

It’s a lot of photos. But this bog has a lot of different areas, and so much beauty to capture. I hope I somewhat captured it in these shots.

Here are the photos I took on our first anniversary trip as a family of three instead of two like all the others had been. It’s sort of sobering to see how much he changed. Time passes far too quickly.
.

And below is a slide show of photos I’ve dug up and compiled for a photo book for Mr. B to celebrate our 15th anniversary… in chronological order to the best of my knowledge! {And speaking of iPhones, it was my iPhone I used to capture a lot of these old photos… I don’t have a working scanner, but this phone camera does a pretty nice job as an alternative!!}
